Hey guys! Tinsley Mitchell here with Living in Central MS and today we are going to explore some golf courses around Rankin County. We are going to talk about the top 4 rated but there other smaller courses sprinkled across the area.
First up, is Castlewoods Country Club located in Brandon, MS just off of Lakeland Drive. Castlewoods 18 hole par 72 Jack Nicklaus design course features champion Bermuda greens and amenities that features three practice areas including a driving range with unlimited balls, a short game area for chipping and putting plus an additional putting only practice green. The course maintains a large fleet of gas powered carts each with individual coolers. It is a member and public course with full 18 holes with cart costing around $40. Inside the clubhouse, you will find a fully stocked pro shop as well. Castlewoods also holds events throughout the year for Mens and Womens Golf Associations. Castlewoods not only features golf, but tennis and an entertainment venue as well. As a member, you can enjoy the six lighted tennis courts, 24 hour fitness center, resort style pool with splash pad for the kids, lifeguards and food and beverage service. At the clubhouse, it features a full restaurant with inside and outdoor seating and has nighttime entertainment regulary. Second on the list is Bay Pointe Resort and Golf Club located in Brandon MS. It is a public golf course that offers 18 hole championship golf course, driving range and practice facilities. Bay Pointe features several amenities such as a grille and restaurant, trackman indoor simulator, practice facilities, pro shop and sit down bar area. Several different membership options are available and a public price for 18 holes with a cart will run you about $35-$52 depending on if you go on a weekday or weekend. If you are looking for a laid back community with golf amenities, Bay Pointe may be for you!
Next up, is Randy Watkins designed course, Patrick Farms Golf Club. Open since 1999 Patrick Farms is a semi private located just off the interstate in Pearl, MS. The fun, playable course is in excellent condition with generous landing areas and scenic views from four sets of tees.The course has hosted many state championships for men, women and juniors, and is home of the Mississippi Golf Association.
Patrick Farms boasts one of the best driving ranges in the Jackson area, grass practice areas, golf lessons, leagues for men, ladies and couples, and tournaments and events. The Club’s 5,000 square foot clubhouse features a stocked pro shop, a member’s lounge and meeting room, and The Grill. The clubhouse is open to members for corporate outings and social functions. Membership has privileges including prime tee times, club tournaments and social events throughout the year. Lastly, the newly renovated as of 2021, The Refuge Golf Course located in Flowood, MS. This 18-hole golf course was originally designed by Roy Case and quickly gained acclaim as one of the top public golf courses in the state. Literally carved from 200 acres of wetlands, more than 500,000 cubic yards of dirt were moved to create lakes, creeks, and one of the best public courses in the region. The Refuge Golf Course was renovated under the direction of golf course architect Nathan Crace. The newly renovated course provides a more playable layout with three new holes and returning nines. It also includes new TifEagle hybrid bermudagrass greens, new and renovated bunkers, and upgrades to the course’s irrigation. The course also features the Longleaf Tee System. Since the course reopened it has garnered rave reviews. It was named "Runner-Up" in the "2021 Renovation of the Year" by Golf Inc. magazine and named to the Golfer's Choice 2023: Best golf courses in Mississippi by Golf Pass.
