This list is based on my 20+ years of dining at these spots, and trust me, narrowing it down to just five was not easy! I even did a little unofficial poll of my friends and family to help me out. 😉

Kicking off our list is Anjou, a charming French bistro located in The Township at Ridgeland. If you love classic French cuisine with a cozy yet upscale atmosphere, this is the spot for you.

Anjou is locally owned and brings authentic flavors straight from France. Some of their must-try dishes include:
✔ Escargot (if you’re feeling adventurous!)
✔ Steak frites – a French classic!
✔ Duck breast entrée – rich and flavorful
✔ Crème brûlée – the perfect way to end your meal

Their Sunday brunch is also legendary! My husband swears by the quiche, while my daughter never skips the Belgian waffle. As for me? I’m all about the steak frites, and it never disappoints!

Bonus Tip: Anjou has a gorgeous lakefront patio, making it a perfect spot for a glass of wine at sunset. It’s like a little slice of Paris right here in Mississippi! 🇫🇷✨


2️⃣ Koestler Prime – The Ultimate Steakhouse Experience 🥩

📍 Location: Renaissance at Colony Park, Ridgeland

If you’re craving the best steak in town, look no further than Koestler Prime. Located in Ridgeland’s Renaissance shopping center, this family-owned steakhouse has been serving top-quality cuts for over 20 years.

Their filet mignon and bone-in ribeye are cooked to perfection every time, but don’t skip out on the seafood! Some of my favorites include:
✔ Marinated crab claws – I order them every time!
✔ Seared tuna – fresh and flavorful
✔ Their amazing wine selection – I love trying something new each visit!

This restaurant has an elegant, upscale atmosphere, making it ideal for date nights, business dinners, or special occasions. Just a heads up—Koestler Prime is closed on Sundays, and it’s a popular spot, so I highly recommend making a reservation!


3️⃣ Local 463 – Southern Comfort with a Modern Twist 🍗

📍 Location: Renaissance at Colony Park, Ridgeland

For elevated Southern cuisineLocal 463 is the place to go. Also located in Renaissance at Colony Park, this restaurant puts a modern twist on classic comfort foods.

Some of their most popular dishes include:
✔ Fried chicken with mac & cheese – crispy, creamy, and oh-so-good!
✔ Redfish 463 – fresh, flavorful, and a fan favorite
✔ Burgers – some of the best in town!

And can we talk about dessert? 🍰 I don’t usually go for dessert, but for research purposes, I made an exception—and wow! Their Chocolate Pecan Bread Pudding (served with caramel sauce and ice cream) was divine.

Heads up: Local 463 is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so plan accordingly!


4️⃣ Strawberry Café – A Madison Classic Since 1987 🍓

📍 Location: Downtown Madison

Now, let’s talk about a Madison stapleStrawberry Café! 🍓

Located in a historic train depot, this charming restaurant has been serving the Madison community since 1987. It’s cozy, welcoming, and perfect for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch.

My personal favorites:
✔ Strawberry Fields Salad – fresh & delicious
✔ Crab cakes – some of the best in the area
✔ Blackened redfish – a must-try for seafood lovers!

Strawberry Café is one of those small-town gems that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a longtime local or just visiting, this spot is a must-visit!


5️⃣ Amerigo – A Classic Italian Dining Experience 🍝

📍 Location: Ridgeland

And last but definitely not least—let’s talk Italian food! 🍷

For over 30 yearsAmerigo has been the go-to spot for scratch-made pastas, wood-fired dishes, and impeccable service.

✔ Chicken Margarite – light yet flavorful
✔ Signature Five-Layer Lasagna – a crowd favorite
✔ Cheese Fritters – if you know, you know! 😉
✔ Salmon Acuto – my personal favorite, served with black bean salsa, grilled artichokes, and green beans. Perfect for those avoiding pasta or cheese!
